38,000 Shoes Collected

Students from Damonte Ranch, Reno, and Sparks High School in Nevada all went head to head to collect shoes for the Soles4Souls organization. Reno High School took to the streets asking near by neighbors for their shoes. Damonte Ranch High School invaded the superintendents office and asked him to take off his shoes for the challenge. Then Reno High school wanted took one up, and invaded Mayor Bob Cashell’s office and asked him for his shoes.

“We were shocked because he gave us $200 as we left” said a Reno high school student.

The goal of the 15 Days of Kindness challenge is for students to discover their ability to change the world, and inspire thousands to do the same. Over 3,000 students were in competition to see whom could truly inspire the most “kindness”.

All in all, each school collected thousands of shoes. Yet, when tallied together, they collected over 30,000 shoes for the victims in Haiti.

The shoes will now be sent to the Soles4Souls distribution center in Alabama where they will be sorted by size, type and gender. All appropriate shoes will be sent over to the victims in need.

Great job Reno Nevada!
