KINDNESS CREW

The mission is simple, to inspire thousands to pay kindness forward. However, rather than just talk the talk, our area’s Kindness Crew is taking to the streets to start our area’s first “kindemic”.

The idea was put forth by our area’s kindness guru, Brian Williams. Williams, is the founder and president of a local non-profit organization called, Think Kindness. Their mission is to inspire acts of kindness both near and far. To date, his organization has collected over 75,000 shoes for orphans in both Kenya and Haiti, challenged over 40,000 students throughout the United States to his “15 Days of Kindness” challenge, and raised thousands for numerous charitable causes.

“I inspire students to get off the couch and make a difference in our world, even if it is just a small one. . . even if it’s as simple as donating a used pair of shoes. Then I wondered, what if we took the concept to whole new heights, something no other city has ever done.” Says Williams

Williams called his friends Kristen Remington and Ann Burns at KTVN Channel 2 News and proposed creating a local Kindness Crew. The idea was to create a team of individuals that would go out into the community and do unique outside the box acts of kindness in return for just one favor, that the recipient pays it forward.

Once the foundation was laid, Mayor Geno Martini and Bob Cashell felt honored to join the crew. Then Bill, Connie, and Trey from Alice 96.5, Panama from Fox News 1270 joined the team, and myself joined the crew.

The Kindness Crew has conjured up some very creative acts of kindness that will be done throughout the month of May. Each act of kindness benefits a local individual or charity. Some of the acts of kindness will require the help of dozens of volunteers and other will require financial donations.

“In order for us do these acts of kindness, we are depending on the kindness of others. 100% of the funds raised with go to cause and the community will be able to watch every Tuesday on News Channel 2 how their volunteerism or financial contributions truly  impacted the life of a local citizen or organization.” Says Kristen Remington from Channel 2 News.

“Watch what will happen! This is going to ignite a flame of kindness and caring in our local community that will not be able to be put out . . . I honestly can’t wait!” Says Williams enthusiastically.

“Kindness is one of the most powerful and interpersonal tools that we, as human beings use to connect with one another. Kindness is a language that everyone understands.” Says Mayor Cashell.

If you would like to join the Kindness Crew and support their cause by making a financial contribution or volunteer, please visit www.ThinkKindness.org or stay watch Kristen Remington’s special reports every Tuesday on News Channel 2.
